Our Work

The Samiti preaches and practises that the service to man is service to God, through five funds.

Scholarship distribution
Education

Vidya Dan

Poor and needy students in Mumbai schools and colleges receive scholarships, presented at the annual pooja of Sri Sai Baba. Nearly 1,600 students have benefited so far. The 2009 scholarships were sponsored by Sir Ratan Tata Trust. The Samiti has also adopted three girl students for free education up to graduation.

How to apply: scholarship forms are available two months before Diwali. Each form must be signed by a member of the Samiti, so that the help reaches deserving students.

School bag distribution
Clothing

Vastra Dan

Students of municipal schools receive free school uniforms. Students of the Bora Bazar municipal school and KBS High School, Police Court Lane, have been the main beneficiaries. Students of municipal schools in Colaba, Andheri and Borivli (West) have received free school bags.

In 2009 the Samiti provided free teaching aids to 50 autistic children of Sri Sai Baba Residential School, Shirdi, sponsored by Sir Ratan Tata Trust.

Women at the free tailoring class
Women

Mahila Vikas

Women from weaker sections of society receive free tailoring coaching in a six-month course at the Samiti's branch office in Borivli. Students receive merit certificates at the end of the course. Nearly 500 women have been trained.

An appeal to preserve the lamp of social work

The success of the last five decades has only inspired us to pursue the Samiti's goals with greater enthusiasm. We hope to start new projects: freeships for poor students in higher education, free sewing machines for poor women, and a circulating library for poor students.

These projects need significant funds. Since the demolition of the Samiti's Sri Sai Baba Mandir by the BMC in 2006, our main source of funds has dried up. The generous support of devotees like you has always been the secret of our success.
